DYGL - New Album

Tokyo indie band DYGL, release new album ‘Songs Of Innocence & Experience’ July 3rd

Exciting news, as the forthcoming second album Songs Of Innocence & Experience from the highly acclaimed Tokyo indie band DYGL has been announced for release on July 3rd 2019.

Songs Of Innocence & Experience is the follow up to the band’s highly acclaimed Albert Hammond Jr (The Strokes)-produced debut album Say Goodbye To Memory Den in 2017. The new album is produced by Rory Attwell (Test Icicles, The Vaccines, Palma Violets) and was mastered at Abbey Road. Songs Of Innocence & Experience is inspired by the work of the historic romantic poet William Blake and his book Songs of Innocence and of Experience. The album explores the varying states of human consciousness and battling social norms, politics and sexuality. DYGL pull from varying facets across the indie landscape to deliver this message. They offer up an indie swagger reminiscent of the likes of The Libertines and The Cribs with lead single ‘A Paper Dream’ and ‘Bad Kicks’. Meanwhile there’s a touch of Beach Boys surf paired with the nonchalant shoegaze of DIIV in ‘Spit It Out’. A gritty low-fi attitude similar to the likes of Iceage or Shame channels through the likes of ‘Ordinary Love’. There are also beautifully delicate moments peppered throughout Songs Of Innocence & Experience, with the likes of album opener ‘Hard To Love’, ‘Only You (An Empty Room)’, ‘Nashville’ and ‘Behind The Sun’, which closes the album.

To celebrate the release of the album the band will play a headline show in London at The Lexington on July 4th. The album is hugely inspired by both British and Japanese culture.
