 SANS FROID Announce Debut Album Hello, Boil Brain
Released 13th September 2024 Bristol Progressive Art-Rockers Reveal Video For New Single ‘Planket’ Released 2nd May 2024

Bristol progressive art-rock quartet SANS FROID are pleased to reveal that their debut album Hello, Boil Brain will be released on 13th September 2024. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Ben Green at Circadian Studios, Exeter and mastered by Stephen Kerrison at Weird Jungle, with further details to be revealed over the coming months. In the meantime, the band have revealed a video for new single ‘Planket’—which will be released on 2nd May 2024 on all good digital service providers—produced and directed by Kenzie Hanifan.

Commenting on the track, vocalist Aisling Rhiannon says: “For me, ‘Planket’ represents the understated pleasures of a peaceful night in, favouring the warmth of companionship over the noise of the nightlife. Its storyline centres on discovering joy and satisfaction within the serenity of home, emphasising the freedom found in embracing moments of solitude. The song celebrates the choice to forego the conventional social scene, opting instead for simple pleasures like a cosy cup of tea and a leisurely stroll.” Following an appearance at Reverie Fest and recent support slot with fellow noodlers Poly-Math, the band are pleased to announce a run of May/June 2024 UK tour dates with Bristol proggers ANTA (see below for listings), and will play a coveted slot at this year’s ArcTanGent Festival, with further UK live dates TBA in the near future. Prior to their current incarnation cemented in 2024, Aisling Rhiannon (vocals/keys) and Toby Green (drums/vocals) from the band were previously based in Leeds and performed as a duo known as Pave, before expanding the line up with Freddie (Bass) and Charlie Barnes (Guitar) added to the family under Sang Froid, before Freddie was eventually replaced by current bassist Ben Harris.

Recorded at HOHM studios in Bradford with Tom Goodall (Cattle), their Worms EP and standalone single ‘Roadworks’ were released in 2020, before the band settled on the minor alteration Sans Froid to avoid clashes with a French goth rock band of the same name. Already catching comparisons to exciting contemporaries in fellow progressive heavy music boundary-pushers Exploring Birdsong, PEACH, Chiyoda Ku, CLT DRP, Voronoi and Sugar Horse, their innovative and chameleonic sound also sees them citing Radiohead and The Mars Volta as key influences.
