With Confidence - New Album

With Confidence release new self titled album…

Australia’s best pop punk export With Confidence yesterday released their 3rd Album ’ With Confidence’ and we here at Hush have been binging it solid for the last 24hours.

Ballsy and intriguing choice, to make their third album self titled, dont ya think?! But thinking deeper into the bands recent history, we can see why a renew and refresh might be suitable. Having to part ways with guitar player Luke Rockets in November 2017  with rumours of misconduct, they cancelled shows & festival appearances, stepped back from the scene for a while, they have then survived as a band through Covid and welcomed a new member!

Through these trials and tribulations the band seem to have matured, with this album representing a more cynical outlook, and we are here for it! Latest single from the record ‘Anything’ hits with some powerful lyrics, that we think everyone at times can identify with;

“I just don’t know if my happiness is a farce. It’s so fucking stupid”

With Confidence were already an interesting collab style of band, with two singers both taking lead on different tracks, and now with this new member - Scott Mclaughlin joining the gang, we have a third vocal thrown into the mix! With this, some songs almost sound like a different band, as we generally associate WC with Jaydens high pitched, fast riffs. Having said that, the tracks flow from one to the next with a coherent theme and these different flavours just work to keep it interesting! There’s no direction that these guys can’t venture with such a broad spectrum of talents to hand.

‘What You Make It’ is an instant hit with us, ‘City’ & ‘Baked’ are a cool and grown up WC we’ve been waiting for, ‘Anything’ is a fucking fun and powerful punch in the face but for us ‘Big Cat Judgement Day’ is the star of the album, winner of the singalong.

The guys were supposed to be hitting our shores imminently but due to Covid travel restrictions they have had to cancel their tour, we for one are gutted! Hope to see them make their way here asap.

This is a really great, moving, interesting and fun album, it’s a winner - check it out.
