The Chats - Live Review

THE CHATS / NOTTINGHAM ROCK CITY / 20th March 2022

The Chats are fucking rowdy. I mean, really rowdy. The Rock City crowd is equally rowdy; first song in and the pit is an explosion of arms and legs. The Chats sound as punk as you like, fast songs that are over in a couple of minutes. To be honest that’s all they need to be, when you come to see The Chats you’re not wanting 8 minute extravaganzas. Unassuming on stage, wearing jeans and t-shirts The Chats command the crowd well, better than some more experienced bands we’ve seen at Rock City, the laid back “DILLIGAF” aussie attitude really working for them, a cool and laid back stage presence. Blasting through their set, one banger after another, pausing briefly for a quick off the cuff word or two with the audience only to, seemingly without queue, hitting in unison into the next song. It is impossible not to come out of a show like this feeling energised. Gleefully happy and kinda pissed off at the same time! But that’s pretty much punk to a ‘T’ isn’t it…
