London/Brighton Prog Masters POLY-MATH Reveal New Album Zenith Released 18th November 2022 via Nice Weather For Airstrikes / Zenith Nov 22 UK Headline Tour Dates Announced

London/Brighton-based prog band POLY-MATH are delighted to reveal their new album Zenith, set for release on 18th November 2022 via Nice Weather For Airstrikes. Poly-Math will hit the road later this year on a run of November 2022 UK headline tour dates in support of the album (see below for listings). Following a premiere with PROG Magazine, the band have released a visualiser for title track and first single ‘Zenith (Vel Cut)’ which is released 12th August 2022 on all good DSPs.

Commenting on the track, the band say: “‘Zenith (Vel Cut)’ was written to be a battle between saxophone and guitar. It’s the opening track on the record, and was the first track that we recorded with saxophone. A lot of the parts were largely improvised to create an unpredictable slow-building cacophony throughout the song.” Recorded at The Ranch Production House in Nursling with producer Mark Roberts (Delta Sleep, Toska, Black Peaks, The Physics House Band), Zenith is the fourth record from the band and represents a clear development—8 tracks of punchy riffs, guitar/sax battling melodies and tight, complex rhythms that capture the band’s massive live energy.

The first to be written and recorded as a 5 piece with the addition of Chris Olsen on saxophone, Zenith is concise and consistent, focusing on complex instrumentation, huge, crowd pleasing riffs and diverse poly-rhythms. Moving away from the band’s previous experimentation with expansive soundscapes and field recordings, Zenith instead features concentrated, succinct songs, all around 4 minutes long, tightly focused on the signature Poly-Math playing style and riffery. Formed in 2013, Poly-Math have a number of EPs, a double album, and two collaboration side project records under their belt. The band have toured the UK, Ireland and Europe frequently and have been a mainstay at the UK’s essential math/post-rock festivals ArcTanGent, Portals, StrangeForms and Bad Pond.

Zenith follows on from POLY-MATH’s experimental 2021 lockdown double album The Cadaver Tomb Pt. 1 and The Cadaver Tomb Pt. 2. Featuring guest performances from some of the band’s favourite vocalists in the math and post-rock community—and recorded remotely and performed, mixed and mastered by Poly-Math—the two records served as an experiment into what could be created during the lockdown restrictions of 2020 and early 2021. Further details of the new album and live dates will be announced over the coming months. New album Zenith is released 18th November 2022 via Nice Weather For Airstrikes
