Liverpool Indie/Alternative Newcomers PAINT ME IN COLOUR Announce New Single ‘Better Than This’ Released

Liverpool-based alternative/indie quartet PAINT ME IN COLOUR are delighted to reveal their new single ‘Better Than This’ which is set for release on 24th June 2022. Commenting on the track, vocalist Liv says: “I wrote ‘Better Than This’ at a time when I felt I was just jumping from one shit job to another, trying to do whatever to keep things ticking along. I was tired of the same old and wanted to take a leap and pursue what I really loved. I remember sitting one day and thinking ‘I’m better than this’ and that’s what sparked it. The lyrics and music are a bit of a journey, constantly switching from happy to sad, much like how I was feeling day to day with my emotions being very up and down. At its core ‘Better Than This’ shows that you don’t need someone else to give you self worth. You don’t need anyone to do that.”

The Liverpool-based four-piece, whose sound has evolved from classic indie numbers to incorporating “spangly guitars, nostalgic hooks, and distorted grooves”, first met at college and through mutual friends, and the chemistry sparked from the first rehearsal. “People say we’re different, but we just try to keep it exciting,” say Paint Me In Colour of their noticeably unorthodox approach to crafting off-the-wall bangers. Their 2019 debut single ‘Feel It.’ was packed with soulful vocals and summer vibes, and received early support from BBC Introducing and Popped Music.

Latest track, ‘Better Than This’, however, is more reminiscent of fresh alternative artists Kid Kapichi and Fickle Friends, who the band count as recent influences on their sound, as well as indie breakthrough band Nothing But Thieves. “We wanted to write a song that people could relate to as much as they could mosh to,” PMIC say of their new musical direction. “We’ve landed on a sound that we’re truly proud of.”

The quartet plan to release an additional two singles later this year, recorded at the legendary Motor Museum in Liverpool. The process saw them work with platinum-winning record producer/mixer Al Groves (Bring Me The Horizon, The Sherlocks). Next year, the band will take their “electrifying” live sound
