Live Review - Press to MECO

Press to MECO @ The Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham 06/03/17

There are certain magazines and music journalists who will tell you “there are no future festival headliners” or that “there are no bands doing their own thing”, well those people need to take a look at Press to MECO, because without doubt in front of 120 people deep in the belly of Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge they had one of those moments that marks a bands rise.

PTM are humble yet spectacular, they have a sound that really stands out in today’s modern rock scene and it was wonderful to see them draw such a (well deserved) riveted crowd.

Playing your debut album in full, front to back is a ballsy move, especially when you are only one album in- but success takes balls and means grasping every opportunity and not being afraid to fail. If Press to MECO had only managed to draw a crowd of 15 people on a Monday night to Birmingham, they’d have still played with as much intensity and passion as they did playing to a packed basement room.

‘Good Intent’ is a thumping piece of Tech Metal, with almost angelic harmonies and crunchy yet funky riffs, the crowd eat everything up and provide enthusiastic backing vocals when needed. To top the whole set off, they treat the crowd to the first track from album number two, an album that is sure to further cement their place on the UK music scene.
