Live Review- Deap Vally

Deap Valley, Pins and Demob Happy @ The Venue, Derby 21/07/17

The Venue in Derby is fastly becoming one of our favourite live music haunts. It’s small enough for it to have that intimate feel but big enough to hold some of the UK’s best up and coming talent alongside respected worldwide artists and genuine musical legends. You can check out everything that is happening at The Venue here… https://www.thevenue-derby.co.uk/

Demob Happy

First on the nights bill, we were treated to Demob Happy a bluesy infusion that has all the elements of becoming a top flight band. They look incredible, have a strong sound and do a great job of warming up the crowd that has arrived early enough to watch the first of three bands.

Pins

Pins are your new favourite band, you just don’t know it yet! They are simply mesmerising; hailing from Manchester and already gaining some momentum with the likes of  6Music, Pins are set to take over the UK music scene. Their sound is different and difficult to put into a box, slightly electro 80s but with riot girrl attitude, sultry sounds mixed with a splash of punk. This all sounds like it shouldn’t work but it does, Pins have a unique and eclectic sound that washes over you, entices you in and then occasionally kicks you in the face.

We feel privileged to have managed to catch these girls before they explode, expect big things from them.

Deap Valley

Deap Vally are just incredible. Words don’t do them justice. They have the aura of old school rock legends, oozing attitude and style; Lindsey Troy prowls the stage, owning every inch she walks on. Deap Vally have the crowd in the palm of their hands, the crowd seam to react to every chord played and every movement made, The passion that this band has for the music they play is obvious and infectious.

In a place the size of The Venue, Deap Vally really sound powerful, the sound that these two make is phenomenal- it often takes you by surprise that there is only 2 of them on stage! Their songs are catchy, funky, dirty and often wild; they’re authentic, the kind of music you can believe in, the kind of music that proves that rock n roll is not dead.

What a line up, what a night.
