Leoniden - Live Review

LEONIDEN/ BIRMINGHAM INSTITUTE 2 / 31.8.22

You know it’s going to be good night when people are queuing around the corner of the hallowed Birmingham Institute waiting to get in! That’s what we were greeted with as we headed to see Leoniden last night, as the special guests of pop rock stars Lime Cordial.

Hailing from Kiel in Germany, Leoniden have been making waves worldwide, with over 14 mil top song plays on Spotify and caught our attention as one to watch this year.

The basement room was pretty much packed to the rafters as Leoniden hit the stage. The crowd were treated to an opener of such high intensity that is rarely seen by even the bigger of bands we go to see. Each member of Leoniden have their own unique spin (literally) and style of performance, all while clearly being one well put together tight unit. With a superbly woven mix of guitar based synth-pop, each of Leoniden’s songs have both style and substance, wrapped up in a visually appealing package that was truly exciting to watch. Feeling like we’re standing on the edge of a new world of music, it’s exciting that after centuries of humanity making music, fresh uniqueness is still a possibility.

We’d be super excited to see this band perform again, and we’re now avid listeners, check out their newest single ‘Smile’ out now.
