Hot Milk - Live Review

HOT MILK (SUPPORTING PALE WAVES) / ROCK CITY, NOTTS / 13.02.22

If you’d walked into this gig during their set, you’d have thought for sure this was Hot Milk’s show, and that they were a band having been established for 15 years…

Hot Milk speak about inclusion, about being yourself and accepting others for being their true selves. Songs about feeling alone and hating oneself and everything they do is incredibly commonplace, especially in alternative scenes around the UK and beyond, but there is a spark Hot Milk have that make them different. Authentic. Their set at Rock City on this night was truly electric, from the first chord struck the sold out crowd went wild, the fan base this band have created is unbelievable in such a short time, die hard even, we’d call them.

Hot Milk have a really cool sound and it fits in perfectly and pleasingly with their aesthetic. With two vocalists, sometimes also adding to the instrumental sound and sometimes not, the band is backed by a heavy synth sound that we really enjoyed.

The hit of their show was without a doubt the lead single from their latest EP ‘I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS…’ the crowd singing louder than the speakers were thumping.

Honestly, the feeling of this show was a real surprise for us. The love of this band and their tunes was palpable. Big things are coming for this band, there’s something really special here… Keep your eye on them.
