Ho99o9 announce new album ‘SKIN’/ Release opening track ‘NUGE SNIGHT

Ho99o9 today announce their genre-transcending second album ‘SKIN’ will be released via DTA Records on 11 March. theOGM and Yeti Bones worked with Travis Barker on the much-anticipated record and in their very first get-to-know-you studio session together, they quickly came up with the pummelling album opener ‘NUGE SNIGHT’. That confrontational composition is out today. Watch the video now and be immersed in their world. The trio worked together off and on over the course of 2020 and 2021, throughout the pandemic, with Barker on drums and production duties. As the situation outside the studio got more tumultuous, Yeti Bones and theOGM got rawer, finding new ways to channel the rage that’s always animated their music — rage that the rest of the world was feeling more and more every day — and peeling back what little pretense they had to reveal their most unapologetically honest selves. Eventually, they realised that they had an album on their hands. Taking inspiration from an Ice Cube b-side, they named it ‘SKIN’.

The album also brings together Yeti Bones and theOGM with some of their biggest influences and most illustrious supporters: ‘SLO BREAD’ sends Houston rap into a nightmarish new dimension with help from H-Town trailblazer Bun B; ‘SKINHEAD’ brings together street punk and poet Saul Williams; and the merciless ‘BITE MY FACE’ gets a brutal vocal assist from Corey Taylor. ‘BATTERY NOT INCLUDED’ was the incendiary first cut to be revealed from the album just last month, described by The Fader as “pure, uncut nihilism with the duo creating a world in which processed beats rub up against blood-curdling vocals and jagged guitars.” Kerrang! welcomed its arrival with an extensive cover feature, delving into Ho99o9’s sound and ethos: “They make some of the most brutal, primal unforgiving music the rock world has ever heard, but it all comes from a place of compassion, of emotional and cerebral intelligence, of awareness of the world and your place in it.”

SKIN’ is a searing document of a world on fire, distilling all of the turbulence and free-floating confusion and anxiety of our present moment into 12 tightly wound tracks that signal a new era for Ho99o9 and the sonic movement they’re spearheading. If it doesn’t make you want to throw a brick, start a riot, and burn the whole system to the ground, you’re not awake. Drawing upon hip hop, hardcore punk and a multitude of subcultures in between, Ho99o9 have become an iconic group of the underground, edging their way into the mainstream. Their incendiary live shows have to be seen to be believed and have made festival bookers and massive bands alike sit up, take note and book them. Ho99o9 have shared stages with artists from The Dillinger Escape Plan to Danny Brown to The Prodigy. They’ve enthralled festival audiences across the globe including at Afropunk, SXSW, Primavera, Download, Reading & Leeds and even the Gathering of The Juggalos. Ho99o9’s immense, immersive live presence and unique artistry has been lauded by publications from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and Revolver to Rolling Stone and The Guardian. Ho99o9 have recently been announced as part of Slipknot’s Knotfest Roadshow in May / June this year, alongside Cypress Hill. And they’ve just announced their own North American headline tour.
