HAPPY ACCIDENTS Collab With Sophie MacKenzie (cheerbleederz) On New Single ‘Dog Day’ / New Album Edit Undo Released 27th September 2024 via Alcopop! Records / First Live Show In 5 Years @ Paper Dress Vintage, London - 3rd September 2024

London indie-punk duo Happy Accidents are pleased to reveal their new single ‘Dog Day’, set for release on 31st July 2024, co-written with cheerbleederz’ Sophie MacKenzie.
The track is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming new album Edit Undo, set for release on 27th September 2024 via Alcopop! Records, and follows on from lead single ‘Infinite Possibilities’ released earlier this month.
The band will play their first live show in 5 years on 3rd September 2024 at Paper Dress Vintage, London with further live dates TBA.
A more sedate, measured, and reflective number from the duo which showcases a matured and well-rounded sound to the latest Happy Accidents ouvre, the lyrics lean into feelings of being past your prime, whilst simultaneously fighting against yourself and others.
Commenting on the single, vocalist/drummer Phoebe Cross says: “‘Dog Day’ was written on a rainy weekend in the studio in February. We collaborated with our friend Sophie, who plays with me in my other project, cheerbleederz. We’re all fairly used to writing and working together, though not in this exact combination of people, so it was cool seeing what would happen working on something fresh, then immediately building and recording it.”
“I think we were all feeling a bit low and it felt so good to channel this energy into writing a song together. I had words written down in my notebook, and the melody came to me whilst listening to Sophie and Rich playing their instruments. I think I really drew from a lot of my favourite artists for this song especially. By the end of the day we were all so energised and it turned out to be one of our faves on the record!”
Sinking their solid DIY roots on their 2016 debut album You Might Be Right, new album Edit Undo will be the band’s fifth, and latest for Alcopop! Records since their 2018 sophomore album Everything But The Here And Now, after self-releasing Sprawling (2020) and cgwarmth (2022), both produced by guitarist/vocalist Rich Mandell.

“I guess the difference this time is we recorded it over a longer period of time, going to the studio once a month and just seeing what came out,” says Mandell of their new creative process. “We’ve sort of integrated it into our normal lives which has been way more fun.”
Happy Accidents have long been a byword for quality and integrity in the UK underground scene, with their members touring internationally in multiple well-loved outfits including cheerbleederz and ME REX, and Mandell producing records from Fresh, Supermilk, Adults and more.
Over the years, their increasingly-finessed output has garnered attention from publications including Noisey, DIY Magazine, Kerrang! Magazine and UPSET, with radio support from Annie Mac and Huw Stephens at BBC R1, Steve Lamacq at BBC 6music and John Kennedy at Radio X, and Spotify UKadding ‘Wait It Out’ to their official Garage Jams playlist.
They’ve also appeared at the likes of Reading & Leeds, The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Truck Festival, Southsea, Hand Made, WTFest, A Carefully Planned… and more, alongside tours across Europe and the UK with the likes of Muncie Girls, Doe and Fresh.
