Don Broco - Live Review

Don Broco, Man With a Mission and Yonaka , 13/02/18 @ Rock City, Nottingham.

Night two of our Rock City run! And we again find ourselves in a rammed venue. First up were the amazing Yonaka. Yonaka are quickly finding their foothold in the British Rock Scene, after we first caught them touring alongside Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, with their & incredible album out it wasn’t a surprise to find so many people here early to catch the enigmatic and original stylings of Yonaka.

Second up were Man With A Mission. Coming to us all the way from Japan, these were really cool to watch, performing in really big and quite terrifying wolf masks their set was a real stand out! With their mix of shouty vocals and electronic elements, their sound is truly their own and can be likened to no one. Having said that, this makes for a case where the tunes may not be to everyones taste, as very little is, but they really performed with everything they had, and the sizzling crowd at Rock City seemed to feed off of that.

Don Broco are such an anomaly, they’re quite a heavy band at times, yet they’re also completely pop. They bridge the gap between genres and between the types & ages of fans you would expect at such a show. These guys seem to have catapulted into the subconscious of music lovers and are currently happily sitting pretty at #5 in the Official UK Album Chart! They seem like the happiest dudes! They LOVE being in a band, making music, meeting people and performing, and you can feel that oozing out of everyone of their pours! Their show is completely electric, the crowd is like a roaring ocean wave, it never settles for one moment, and this audience knew every song and screamed it back at the guys with a passion rarely rivalled by any other fans. This show moved one fella so much… that he got on stage and asked his girlfriend to marry him! Happy Pancake Day to all!

Don Broco really know how to put on a show, if you’re not a fan, we challenge you to see them live and then re-evaluate how you feel…
