Brighton Punks CITY DOG Reveal New Single ‘A Circus’ 

Released 5th October 2023 via Small Pond Records

Brighton punk newcomers CITY DOG are pleased to reveal their new single ‘A Circus’ which was released on 5th October 2023 via Small Pond Records. The track is the latest to be taken from the Small Pond Presents: Emerging Vol. 3 compilation album, which will be released on 24th November 2023 via Brighton-based multi-disciplinary music company Small Pond. 

Commenting on the single, the band say: “Of course circuses are often people doing stunts and performing to entertain a crowd, but more traditionally it was people who didn’t line up with society’s standards being observed for their differences in a negative way. Perhaps the audience goes to the circus to feel less insecure about their own appearances. ‘A Circus’ questions this attitude in relation to the modern world we live in.” “I’d like to be a part of a world where people’s differences are celebrated and not observed in cages, where no one is seen as lesser than or other simply for their outer appearance, where everyone’s differences can be celebrated and not judged. I think people would be more true to themselves if they didn’t fear rejection or judgement and everyone, perhaps, could get on a little better.” 

 Quickly becoming recognised for their fierce live shows and ability to turn a mosh pit into an absolute feeding frenzy, City Dog are stamping their boots sharply towards the front of the bustling Brighton punk scene having supported the likes of The Buzzcocks, Surfbort and The Wytches, with appearances at Mutations Festival and Bad Pond festival also under their belts. 

Building on the success of previous projects, Small Pond’s ‘Emerging’ artist development project once again gives talented young acts (aged 16-25) from Brighton and the South of England the opportunity to rehearse, record, and release their music via Small Pond’s professional studio, label and PR set-up. The track follows on from the album’s lead single ‘Fancy Word For Addiction’ by emo-hardcore trio prom, with further names and more details of the compilation’s tracklist to be released over the coming months.
