Released 8th July 2022 via Crushed To Dust

Avantgarde France-based composer, arranger and songwriter BEN FOSKETT is pleased to reveal the video for his new single ‘Wolf Girl’ released 10th June 2022 via all good digital service providers. Following on from lead single ‘Fly Superman Fly’, the track is the latest to be taken from his forthcoming second album, HEART PUMP, which will be released on 8th July 2022 via Crushed To Dust. Directed by regular collaborator Delphine Ciavaldini, working alongside Director of Photography Rodolphe Soucaret and Editor Guillaume Blanchard, the visuals provide the perfect aesthetic and atmospheric match for the experimental track.

Commenting on the single, Foskett says: “‘Wolf Girl’ started as an image: a woman with a wolf’s head. This simple statement is built out, drawing on images from horror and thriller movies but underpinned by a larger concept—the inner battle with our own psyche.” Previously celebrated for his atonal, avantgarde classical composition and arrangement work with notable names including Travis, The Divine Comedy and Keaton Henson, his 2021 debut solo album Songs of Searching was the first body of original songwriting from Foskett—a brave move away from his usual instrumental work, adding distinct vocals and drawing influence from the likes of Nick Cave and Tom Waits.

Forthcoming new album HEART PUMP is the follow up to Songs of Searching, and was recorded and produced between Paris and London by Foskett, and also features renowned guitarist/producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Imogen Heap, Jarvis Cocker, Regina Spektor, Jon Hopkins, Paul Simon). Another marked departure from his previous output, HEART PUMP sees Foskett shifting shapes again, this time recording with a trio of musicians, with drummer Nicolas Charlier, bassist Quentin Rochas, and Leo Abrahams on guitar bolstering Foskett’s own exceptional songwriting and compositional skills with their individual musical prowess. The results speak for themselves on a full-bodied, experimental, intellectual and thrilling listen that runs the gamut of emotions and draws even more heavily on Foskett’s eclectic mix of influences from jazz artists John Zorn, Dave Douglas and Tom Arthurs, to the sprawling inspirations ranging from the aforementioned Keaton Henson and Nick Cave, through to Rage Against the Machine, Pixies and Big Thief’s Buck Meek’s solo material.

Further details of the new album will be revealed over the coming weeks. Second album HEART PUMP is released 8th July 2022 via Crushed To Dust
