THE DEADNOTES Carve Their Own Niche On New Single ‘Forever Outsider’ / February 2023 UK Co-headline Tour w/ NERVUS On Sale Now

Outsiders unite! With their new single ‘Forever Outsider’ (released February 9th 2023), German duo The Deadnotes are calling on all freaks, geeks, and loners to build a new community with them. With their new misfit anthem, the pair manifest their bold new reimagined sound and show once again that now, more than ever, you can transcend the limitations and restrictions of genres and subculture scenes, and find your own niche to occupy. Following on from lead single ‘Downward Spiral’, the track is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming Forever Outsider EP which will be released this summer, with more details to follow in due course. “Musically, we have always been in between genres,” says songwriter and singer Darius about the band’s goal with the new single.

“Too indie for pop, too pop for indie; too punk for pop and too pop for punk. For a very long time, we tried to take up space as a band between those scenes, where all fans feel comfortable. In the last two years, we realised: right now is our chance to turn that into reality. To create a beautiful space that we can design together with the people who listen to our music and come to our concerts. ‘Forever Outsider’ is the song with which we want to achieve that.” Musically, ‘Forever Outsider’ is a versatile and convincing offering that shows the band’s chameleonic talents off to a tee. Piano meets brass and saxophone, a mellotron meets strings, and even a children’s choir contributes backing vocals, giving The Deadnotes’ new material a liveliness the band have fought long and hard for. Not only lyrically, but also sonically, they prove that when opposites collide and come together, the product can be something great. “Core themes for our band involve our own fears and insecurities, both personally as individuals, as well as in a band context,” explains Darius. “The feeling of not really fitting in anywhere. Isolation from friends, partners or family as a band that is constantly on tour, as well as depression. When we started writing the song ‘Forever Outsider’, we realised very quickly that there was much more to this track and it had to be the title track of the next EP.” The drive and work ethic with which founding members Darius and Jakob have displayed to date is contagious. Having played over 500 shows in more than 25 countries, including tour support for Foxing, Boston Manor, Deaf Havana, The Dangerous Summer and many more, things are still just getting started for The Deadnotes. It’s no surprise that Germany’s Fuze Magazine recently predicted: “It’s only a matter of time before they become a really big deal!” The band hit the UK in February 2023, on a run of co-headline tour dates with Watford anarcho-punks Nervus, with further live dates TBA.
