Don Broco - Live Review

DON BROCO / ROCK CITY, NOTTINGHAM / 1ST NOV 2021

It’s official!! Live music IS BACK! We’re a few shows into the post-covid life, this is true, but seeing Rock City full - front to back - top to bottom (balcony included, which we’ve not seen used for ages pre-covid) properly gave us goosies!

DB are a real stand alone. There’s noone like them, and there never has been. Coming out with their preppy vintage aesthetic and weird-ass sounding pop rock tunes infused with muscular riffs, riot-inducing breakdowns, and ferocious choruses they’re kinda hard to define.

Judging by the packed out room, the previous sold out shows they’ve done and the fact that they sold out some venues more than once- it’s quite definitely confirmed that Don Broco are a hit with crowds nationwide, their uniqueness has definitely struck a chord with us.

There are many elements that make Don Broco’s live shows explosive and unforgettable in equal measure, they’re a sweaty, inclusive affair that have earned the Bedford quartet bigger and better stages, we can see them having the ability to do an arena tour on their next record if they chose to leave these sweaty, raucous 2k cap venues aside.

Owning the stage for over an hour and a half, DB really put on a show. They had such fun banter, crazy crowd participation bits, mosh pits, circle pits and HUNDREDS of crowd surfers, it was an unbelievable and electric atmosphere. Our poor Kimberley stuck in the photo pit wedged between the stage, the huge security guards and the kids flying into the pit - trying to avoid the spilled beer, cups of beer flying mid air, and protect her precious precious camera, whilst shooting this energetic, insane, intense show was unbelievably difficult!

To conclude, we recommend you get your arses out to see Don Broco live now. They put on a show unlike anyone else, and soon they’re going to be (very deservedly) playing bigger venues, where some of this sweaty, intense magic may be lost. Miss it, miss out.
