Live Review - Bring Me The Horizon

Bring Me The Horizon @ Birmingham, Barclaycard Arena - 5/11/16

Sadly due to the longest queue you could possibly imagine (The Barclaycard Arena is a beautiful venue and has everything you could possibly need, but initially getting in is a ridiculous chore.) we missed the opportunity to photograph both Basement and Don Broco, but we did catch the end of Don Broco’s set.

Don Broco are that sort of band that cannot be pigeon-holed, and because of that they seem to have the “Marmite Effect” - you love or you hate them. And boy- over here it’s all about the DB love! They’re so fun and sweet and genuine. Every song and every performance is different, we do not have a cookie cutter band here. Owning the massive arena stage and audience like we were all there for them, Don Broco smashed it!!

And then come BMTH. The first thing to be noticed about this show was the crowd. We’ll often say the crowd was “varied” or “eclectic”, but seriously, this time we really mean it! There were people of all ages, of all styles, from all walks of life, all of whom were there tonight, embracing the Pop-Screamo-Rock flavours that Bring Me bring to the table, and enjoying every second.

Surprisingly Ollie is a subtle and powerful frontman, seeming to have no crazy persona or entitlement that the media hype would suggest. The band are a unit and on stage, even a massive one such as this, that was to be witnessed. And musically? The sound is massive, immense - heartbreaking, soul shaking!

Bring Me The Horizon have been in the media a lot over the past year for various reasons. Completely overlooking rumours, hearsay and the opinions of others; here we have an amazing British band, that are unique and powerful. A band that have earned a large and dedicated following, and this is not without reason. On record Bring Me sound good, and live? In an amazing audio setting such as the Barclaycard Arena? They fucking slay.
