Beartooth - Live Review

Beartooth with The Amity Affliction @ Rock City, Nottingham - 26th Feb 2020

A good music concert, show or “gig” is a majorly unappreciated thing. A full room of excited and invested fans, good sound- loud but with audible levels from various sources placed in just the right place, a suitably sized (and height) stage, lights that both put on a show and light the band, and various other intangible things that the likes of us can’t begin to realise, go into the logistics of planning such an event. The point is, that it isn’t as simple as band plus stage equals a good show! So when a show mesmerises, excites and enthrals, it should be ranked with the likes of art. A good show is a work of art.

So after that introduction, it seems needless to say- this show was amazing. For starters, the room was full from the get go, sold out crowd gagging to get into the doors asap.

Amityville were amazing as always, this could have been their show the way the crowd reacted.

We were really pleasantly surprised to see the Rock City Crowd Control folk to have laid back their attitudes somewhat since we last came to RC. The staff were smiling and fist bumping kids as they crowd surfed to the front and ran off ready to do it again. This softer attitude seemed to have a great ripple effect on the atmosphere of the gig, it’s not a war between having fun and abiding by the rules anymore.

Beartooth have really matured into a slick outfit. Caleb has grown in confidence, their performance and music demonstrates this. Even though the subject matter of the songs is still quite dark at times, they still lift you, especially when performed in such a magnetic energetic manner.

We really enjoyed this show, and are really looking forward to wear these guys can go from here.
